A HISTORICAL WALK FROM THE CENTRE TO NATURE AND BACK

Straight from your apartment you can go for a lovely walk outside the city, to Estate Elswout. The forests of Haarlem have been extremely popular with businessmen and women from Amsterdam during the 17th, 18th and 19th century. Estate Elswout is one of the most spectacular estates nearby Haarlem. From the orangery to long, sharp paths. While crossing the neighborhood from the apartment to the west side of town, follow the enchanting old path called Ramplaanpad. This charming route leads you in a 30-45 minute walk or a 15 minute bike ride directly to the estate, providing an opportunity to immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings of Haarlem. Along the way, be sure not to overlook the chance to take a break at the outstanding cafe/restaurant, Wapen van Kennemerland (Ramplaan 125, Haarlem), featuring a delightful terrace that offers stunning views of Elswout. The establishment, formerly known as “the stinking bucket,” earned its curious name from the stops made by fishwives on their walk from Zandvoort to Haarlem.
